We spent 24 hours in Kuala Lumpur. Having been three times already, we still wanted to make a stop there, especially to return to Bijan, a fine dining restaurant serving delicious Malay food, such as an exquisite beef rendang. We stayed one night with Amin, an Iranian the same age as us who studies here and will soon join his wife in Germany. We mainly stayed at his home, resting and chatting, but still we made a short tour in the city centre, and even a little further to test a great Iranian restaurant, Shisha Lounge. Amin told us about lots of places to visit in Iran and shared a lot with us about his life, including the wistful and beautiful poems he writes, we advised him he should publish them in a book!
Of Kuala Lumpur itself, we will remember: the Petronas Towers so huge and bright by night…
… and whose best viewpoint to admire is from the KL Tower,
Masjid Jamek the beautiful pink mosque where we have never succeeded to visit,
Masjid Negara the beautiful and soothing national mosque,
Imbi Market with its small turbulent breakfasts,
Merdeka Square the independence Square,
Petaling St in Chinatown with its stalls of souvenirs and fake items,
the Batu Caves especially during Thaipusam,
and finally the Helipad our favorite bar at the top of a tower from which the clear view gives such a sense of freedom.
